Life is a stitch!
I fell in loving with sewing and crafting when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Our elderly neighbor made the most beautiful "southern belle" brocade dresses for little plastic dolls. These dolls were about 10" or 12" tall, had flat feet and painted on white shoes. Even if they didn't stand on their own, their beautiful full skirts would keep them standing. Oh, the detail she put into the clothing for these little dolls! I was hooked, and she began to teach me to make simple stitches. When I began to get the hang of it, my poor Barbie Doll had more costume changes than Reba McEntire performing a live concert!
The summer before starting high school, my mother purchased a top-of-the-line Singer sewing machine for me. All the bells, whistles, and gizmos. Looking back, it was really a strain on the family finances, because my family was poorer than poor. Thanks, Mom! I've gone through a few sewing machines since then. One year, I made 12 baby quilts for family and friends and wore out a Kenmore. But that first Singer is still going strong.
All through the years, I've sewn clothes for myself, Western cut shirts for my husband, and clothes and costumes for our growing kids. Recently, I made my granddaughter's Winnie the Pooh crib bedding, appliqued quilt, and nursery accessories. I designed and made my grandson's Texas Rangers appliqued quilt and nursery accessories. I love making crafts that involve sewing or hand stitching of some kind.
I hope you'll enjoy browsing my shop and the handsewn/handmade items in it.
